Burn Hall students protest, seek online exams

Srinagar: Students of Class 9th from Burn Hall School Saturday staged a protest demonstration here at Press Enclave, demanding online examinations.

The protesting students were raising slogans of “We Want Justice”.

“We can’t appear in offline exams because we are yet to be vaccinated,” they said, adding “We are under age and our immunity is not so strong.”

They said they have not attended the classes physically due to apprehensions of contracting Covid-19.

They also said that on one hand the authorities are appealing to people to stay away from crowds and at the same time our school is forcing us to appear in the offline examination.

“We tried to meet the Principal, however, we were not allowed to meet him,” the protesting students said.

A protestor said they were told that the examination will be held online. “But now, the school administration has issued the date sheet for our examination,” they said.

A protesting student said that when other private schools in the valley are conducting exams online, “We fail to understand why they are forcing us to appear physically for exams.”

The students urged the school administration not to conduct the offline exams amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
