Colleges in Srinagar resume in-person classes

All colleges in Srinagar resumed their physical academic activities on Saturday after the district administration had given approval for resumption of in-person classes.

According to the administration, the approval was given in view of the improvement in COVID-19 situation and various representations received from various quarters.

In this regard, an official communiqué was also issued by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammed Aijaz Asad, saying, “Keeping in view the various representations received by the district administration regarding the reopening of colleges and in view of the improved COVID-19 situation in the district, all the government and private degree colleges shall be allowed to open for in-person classes for all semesters with immediate effect.”
Asad said that the concerned head of the institutions (HoI) shall ensure that COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) and guidelines issued by the district administration are followed in letter and spirit.

He said that the guidelines or the SOPs issued from time to time shall continue to remain in force.
The DC directed the concerned HoIs to complete the vaccination process in two days immediately after the beginning of in-person classes.

“Further, necessary vaccination programs shall continue in all the colleges in district Srinagar as per already notified schedule and all heads of institutions shall ensure completion of vaccination process in two days from beginning of the in-person classes,” he said.

The DC said that any violation of the government orders will be dealt under Section 188 of IPC, Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Epidemic Disease Act, 1897.
