UG 6th semester students complain of out of syllabus question paper

Srinagar: The undergraduate 6th semester college students on Monday complained about the out of syllabus question paper framed by the Kashmir University (KU).


The examination of the two subjects- Democracy and Governance and Social stratification was held on November 25 and 27.


The students complained that the several questions were out of syllabus leaving the students high and dry during the examination.

“We are shocked to see the out of syllabus questions posed in the question papers. Such incidents result in mental depression of the students,” said Shafiya, a student from Kupwara.

The students complained to Greater Kashmir that the standard of questions was above their level and they were not able to attempt these questions.

The students questioned the selection of paper setters by Kashmir University saying that every time students are subjected to mental stress during exams.

“This is not the first time that students faced inconvenience during exams. We fail to understand why KU authorities fail to ensure hassle free exams despite their tall claims,” said another student.

The students said everyone was blanked on seeing the question paper and it was unexpected to face such a standard of paper in exams that was too out of syllabus.

“Despite facing hardships due to closure of colleges, we worked hard to prepare ourselves for exams but KU has discouraged us,” another student said.

The students demanded that the KU should either conduct the examination of these two subjects again or should give relaxation in awarding marks to the students in these subjects.

Controller Examination KU, Prof Irshad Ahmad Nawchoo said the students can lodge a complaint on a specified email as per rules in vogue.

“We will get these cross checked by experts and all suitable recommendations are taken care off. The students should rest assured that we will take care of all such complaints,” he said.
