Rain lashes Kashmir, MeT predicts clear weather for next week

Srinagar, Sep 20: A fresh spell of moderate rain lashed Kashmir on Monday while Meteorological Department has predicted mainly clear weather for next one week in the region.

Director Meteorological Department Sonam Lotus said that there will be mainly clear skies for the next week, “but a brief spell of light rain may occur at isolated places.”

“During the next 24 hours, there will be generally cloudy weather at most places with the possibility of a brief spell of light rain in South West of Jammu city,” he said.

Regarding Kashmir, Lotus said, there will be partly cloudy sky at most places with possibility of a brief spell of light rain in North West Kashmir like Kupwara, Tangdar etc in the forenoon.

On Monday the temperature in summer capital Srinagar mercury reached to 22.2 degrees celsius. Gulmarg was the coldest with a high of 13.4 degrees celsius, while Kupwara recorded 25.3 degrees celsius.

Health resort Pahalgam recorded the maximum temperature of 17.5°C, Qazigund 20.0°C, Kokernag recorded 20.3 degrees celsius. The maximum temperature in Jammu was recorded at 29.0 degrees celsius.

As per traffic advisory issued by the traffic department, subject to fair weather and better road conditions, ligh motor vehicles (LMV) shall be allowed from both sides on the Jammu-Srinagar highway on Tuesday.

On Mughal road, subject to fair weather LMVs from both sides and heavy motor vehicles (HMV) (upto ten tyres) from Srinagar towards Poonch shall be allowed on Mughal road
