Mobile internet services snapped in Kashmir on Republic Day
SRINAGAR: Internet services on mobile devices were suspended in Kashmir on Wednesday in view of Republic Day functions.
“The mobile internet telephone services have been temporarily suspended in the valley for ensuring peaceful Republic Day celebrations,” the officials said.
However, the mobile phone services remained unaffected.
The broadband services, however, were not affected due to these curbs.
Although, it is a normal practice in Kashmir to suspend internet services on August 15 and January 26.
Government forces have been deployed in strength at strategic locations in Srinagar. Law enforcing agencies are carrying out random frisking and searches of vehicles entering the city.
