Weather Update J&K: Light Snow Possible in Higher Reaches, Fog to Persist Across Kashmir

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar (MeT) has issued a fresh weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, indicating generally cloudy conditions over the next week with chances of very light snowfall in isolated higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir, along with a fog advisory for several areas.

December 14–15

  • Weather will remain partly to generally cloudy across the Union Territory.
  • There is a possibility of very light snow at isolated higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir, especially during late night or early morning hours.

December 16–18

  • The region is expected to witness partly to generally cloudy weather.
  • No major precipitation activity is forecast during this period.

December 19–20

  • Weather conditions will again turn partly to generally cloudy.
  • Very light snowfall is likely at isolated higher elevations of North and Central Kashmir during night or early morning hours.

December 21

  • Generally cloudy conditions are expected, particularly towards the evening.
  • There is a possibility of light rain or snow at isolated to scattered places in the Kashmir Division.
  • Isolated areas of the Jammu Division may also receive light precipitation.

December 22–26

  • Weather is expected to remain partly cloudy across Jammu and Kashmir.
  • No significant weather disturbance is predicted during this phase.

  • Shallow to moderate fog is likely to continue at many places in the Kashmir Division.
  • Isolated places in the Jammu Division may also experience foggy conditions.
  • Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, especially during early morning and late-night hours, due to reduced visibility.
