National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) 2024-25 Notification

The Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has issued an official notification inviting applications from eligible Class VIII students for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) for the academic session 2024-25. This prestigious scholarship is aimed at promoting and supporting meritorious students from economically weaker sections.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Enrollment: The student must be currently enrolled in Class VIII for the academic session 2024-25 in a school located in Jammu/Kashmir Division.
  2. Previous Academic Performance: A minimum of 55% marks in Class VII is required, with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates.
  3. School Type: The student must be studying in a Government, Government-aided, or Local Body school.
  4. Family Income: The annual family income must not exceed ₹3.5 lakh.
  5. Domicile: The candidate must be a permanent resident of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

Scholarship Details

  • Duration: Four years (from Class IX to Class XII).
  • Amount: ₹12,000 per annum, totaling ₹48,000 for four years.
  • Academic Requirements: The student must achieve a minimum of 55% marks (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates) in Class VIII, Class X, and clear Class IX and XI in the first attempt.

Examination Structure

The NMMSS exam consists of two papers:

  1. Mental Ability Test (MAT):
    • Number of Questions: 90
    • Maximum Marks: 90
    • Duration: 90 minutes
  2. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT):
    • Number of Questions: 90
    • Maximum Marks: 90
    • Duration: 90 minutes

How to Apply

  1. Application forms can be downloaded from the JKBOSE website: www.jkbose.nic.in.
  2. Submit the duly completed forms, attested by the head of the institution, along with the following documents:
    • Class VII marks certificate
    • Income certificate
    • Domicile certificate
    • Category certificate (if applicable)
  3. Attach a pay-in-slip of ₹60 deposited in the JK Bank Account No. 0547010100000002, Branch JKBOSE, Bemina, Srinagar.
  4. The application form, along with supporting documents, must be submitted to the office of the concerned Chief Education Officer (CEO) by 20th January 2025.

Important Notes

  • A total of 1,068 scholarships will be awarded based on merit.
  • Students with special needs will be granted extra time as per applicable rules.
