JKSSB Constable Recruitment: Medical Examination Schedule Released for Provisionally Selected Candidates

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has issued an important notification regarding the medical examination of provisionally selected candidates for the posts of Constable (Armed/IRP/SDRF/Executive/Telecommunication) in the Home Department.

This medical examination is the next mandatory stage in the recruitment process for candidates who have been included in the provisional selection list. Candidates are advised to read the notice carefully and report to the concerned Medical Boards strictly as per the schedule and venue mentioned.


Background: JKSSB Constable Recruitment Process

JKSSB had earlier notified the Provisional Selection List for various Constable posts in the Home Department through:

  • Notification No. JKSSB–Scry/38/2025–03 (E-7823188) dated 02.01.2026

These notifications were issued for a total of 3980 Constable posts in Jammu & Kashmir Police, advertised under Notification No. 01 of 2024 dated 16.07.2024, under Item Nos. 01, 02, 03, 05 and 06.

After provisional selection, the recruitment process proceeds to the medical examination phase, which is compulsory and must be carried out strictly according to the prescribed norms of the indenting department.


JKSSB Constable Medical Examination 2026: Key Highlights

Here are the key points from the official notification:

✅ Medical Examination is Mandatory

JKSSB has clarified that the next stage after provisional selection is the medical test, which will be conducted at respective Govt. Medical Colleges (GMCs) / hospitals as per the candidates’ allocation.

✅ Start Date: From 06 February 2026

All candidates listed in Annexure A and Annexure B must report to the Medical Board w.e.f. 06.02.2026 as per schedule.

✅ Medical Test for 325 Common Candidates Will Be Conducted Only Once

JKSSB has observed that 325 candidates are common across multiple constable categories/posts. Therefore, to avoid duplication of tests and inconvenience:

  • Their medical test will be conducted only once
  • The same result will be treated valid for all relevant categories/posts

This is an important relief measure for candidates who were selected under more than one category.


Reporting Instructions for Candidates

The notification provides clear reporting instructions:

1) Report to the concerned Medical Board

Candidates must report to the Medical Board at the respective hospital/GMC mentioned against their name in Annexure lists.

2) Ex-Servicemen must carry discharge documents

All Ex-Servicemen candidates must produce their discharge book before the Medical Board.

3) Provisional status is still applicable

JKSSB has also clarified that calling a candidate for medical examination does not confer any right to final selection. Final appointment will depend upon completion of all required formalities and eligibility conditions.


District-wise Medical Examination Venues

As per the notice, candidates have been allotted venues such as:

  • Govt. Medical College, Jammu
  • Govt. Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu
  • Govt. Hospital, Sarwal, Jammu
  • Govt. Medical College, Srinagar
  • Govt. Medical College, Anantnag
  • District Hospital, Kulgam
  • District Hospital, Bandipora
  • Govt. Medical College, Baramulla
  • District Hospital, Kishtwar
  • Govt. Medical College, Doda
  • Govt. Medical College, Kathua (And other district-wise venues mentioned in the annexures.)

Candidates must check their district schedule carefully in the annexure list.


Important Advice for Candidates

To avoid any issues during medical examination, candidates should:

  • Reach venue before time
  • Carry required documents (ID proof, admit card/selection proof if needed)
  • Follow instructions of the hospital/medical board
  • Ensure medical fitness as per recruitment standards
  • Keep copies of documents safely for future reference
