‘Many students discontinue studies owing of financial difficulties, lack of access, guidance’

Srinagar, Jul 12 (KNO): Owing to the financial difficulties, lack of access and guidance, many students prefer to discontinue their studies after qualifying the board exams of 10th standard.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the district administration Poonch had said that it has observed that many students do not seek admissions because of financial problems.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M Choudhary in a circular said, “It has been observed that every year many students who pass out of class 10th standard do not seek admission to class 11th due to many reasons such as financial difficulties, lack of access and guidance and hence result in them dropping out of studies.”
“It is particularly noticed that students from low income homes dropout became pressured to work to support their families,” he said.
The DC further said that in view of these issues, Chief Education Officer, Poonch and all the Zonal Education Officers shall carry out an exercise and prepare a zone wise data of students who have passed Class 10th but have not taken admission in Class 11th in the current ongoing admission drive.
“Furthermore, the local Principals of Higher Secondary School shall make sustained efforts in ensuring that the dropout student is extended all possible financial and other assistance to continue their studies,” it reads—(KNO)
