About the Scheme
The Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SCs & Others is designed to assist students from Scheduled Castes and other disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue education up to the 10th standard in recognized schools. The scheme has two main components focusing on different categories of students.
Component 1: Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students
Eligibility Criteria
- Students must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
- The annual income of parents or guardians should not exceed ₹2.50 lakh.
- Students must be studying in Class IX or X in recognized schools.
Scope
- Applications will be accepted and verified by the State Government/Union Territory.
- The scheme aims to cover the poorest households and ensure education continuity.
Entitlements
- Day Scholars: ₹3,500 per annum
- Hostellers: ₹7,000 per annum
- Divyang (specially-abled) students will receive an additional 10% allowance.
Component 2: Pre-Matric Scholarship for Children of Parents Engaged in Unclean and Hazardous Occupations
Eligibility Criteria
- Students whose parents/guardians are engaged in unclean or hazardous occupations.
- There is no income limit for this category.
Scope
- Applicable for students studying in Classes I to X in recognized schools.
- Applications are verified by the State Government/Union Territory.
- Priority coverage for the poorest households.
Entitlements
- Day Scholars: ₹3,500 per annum
- Hostellers: ₹8,000 per annum
- Divyang (specially-abled) students will receive 10% extra allowance.
