Traffic Advisory for Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) – February 21, 2025
Current Traffic Conditions on NH-44
The Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, has issued an important advisory regarding vehicular movement on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). From February 19, 2025, at 17:00 hrs to February 20, 2025, at 17:00 hrs, slow movement was observed due to:
- Breakdown of two heavy motor vehicles (HMVs)
- Single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather
- Ongoing four-lane construction work
Passengers and operators of light motor vehicles (LMVs) are strongly advised to undertake their journey during daytime due to the risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
Guidelines for Goods Carrier Operators
- HMV/LMV goods carriers transporting perishable items should follow the advisory issued by the Traffic Police Headquarters due to single-lane traffic and poor road conditions.
- Overloading is strictly prohibited. HMV operators must ensure their vehicles are fit for travel and carry sufficient fuel before starting their journey.
- Only HMVs with 06 and 10 tyres are permitted to use the Dhar road route.
Advisory for All Commuters
- Avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide-prone areas.
- Always check the latest NH-44 status on the J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page before traveling.
