Young Journalist Sartaj Altaf Bhat Awarded Certificate of Appreciation on Republic Day 2026

Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir:
Young and dynamic journalist Sartaj Altaf Bhat was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the District Administration Pulwama on the occasion of Republic Day 2026 for his outstanding performance in the field of journalism during the year 2025–2026.

The award was presented in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Basharat Qayoom, Senior Superintendent of Police Pulwama Ms Tanushree, District Development Council Chairman Pulwama Bari Andrabi and MLA Rajpora Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir, along with other senior district officers and officials.

Sartaj Altaf Bhat, son of Mohamad Altaf Bhat and a resident of Niloora, Pulwama, has been recognised for his consistent contribution to responsible journalism, ground reporting and public-interest storytelling. The award reflects his dedication towards ethical reporting, people-centric journalism and professional excellence in the media industry.

This is not the first time Sartaj Altaf has been honoured for his work. Earlier as well, he has received appreciation on multiple occasions for his best performance and impactful reporting, especially on social, administrative and public welfare issues.

Academically, Sartaj Altaf holds a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication along with a Diploma in Photography. With over six years of experience in the media industry, he has worked across various roles including correspondent, video journalist, anchor, social media manager and managing editor, establishing himself as a versatile and all-round media professional.

During his career, Sartaj Altaf has worked with several reputed newspapers and television channels at regional as well as national levels, gaining wide exposure and practical experience in newsroom operations, field reporting and digital media management.

Apart from journalism, Sartaj Altaf is also known for his role as a social worker. He actively raises the issues of marginalised communities and ensures that their voices reach the concerned authorities and administration, earning him respect among the local population.

Currently, Sartaj Altaf Bhat serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Awaaz News Network. He is also the Managing Editor of Dogra Times, Kashmir Horizon and Kashmir Student Alerts, where he continues to guide young journalists and strengthen credible journalism in the region.
