School Edu Deptt proposes reduction for promotion of ZEOs to Principals

Srinagar, Oct 31 (KNO): Authorities have proposed to decrease the percentage of ZEOs for promotion as principals from 20 percent to five percent only.
In a proposal, the School Education Department has said that it may decrease the percentage of Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) for promotion as principals from existing 20 percent to 5 percent keeping in view their cadre strength.”
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), currently Jammu and Kashmir have nearly 200 ZEOs across the region. Besides, other proposal under the revision of Jammu and Kashmir School Education service recruitment rules-2023 wherein the department has invited objections has said, “B.ed degree has been added to the existing qualification of existing PG only as per NCERT guidelines.”
“For promotion purposes, in addition to BED, a limited Departmental examination is proposed to be conducted by JK PSC and JK SCERT shall prepare the syllabus,” it reads.
It also states that in order to fix the seniority of a candidate, the date of passing higher qualification required for acquiring full eligibility for promotion be taken as the date of inclusion in seniority in addition to the date of appointment.
“Introduction of the post of Vice Principal equivalent to the number of the principals (HSS) from the existing sanctioned strength of Senior Lecturers without any financial implications,” it reads—(KNO)
