Eligibility criteria require candidates to hold an engineering degree in any of the eight specified disciplines with at least 65% marks. The age limit is set at 28 years as of July 25, 2024, meaning applicants should not be born earlier than July 25, 1996. However, there is a relaxation for SC/ST/PwBD and Departmental candidates, who need to have only 55% marks in their engineering degree to be eligible.
The selection process for the MT positions will primarily utilize GATE 2024 scores. Shortlisted candidates will be notified via SAIL’s career page, email, or phone to participate in a Group Discussion (GD) and Interview. The final merit list will be created by combining the scores from GATE 2024, GD, and Interview with a weightage distribution of 75:10:15, respectively. This method ensures a comprehensive evaluation of candidates based on both their technical knowledge and interpersonal skills.
An application fee of ₹700 is applicable for General, OBC (NCL), and EWS candidates, while SC/ST/PwBD/Departmental candidates need to pay a processing fee of ₹200. Payment can be made online via Net Banking, Credit Card, ATM-cum-Debit Card, or through a system-generated challan form at the bank.
