CUS committed to declare results in time to facilitate outgoing students’
Srinagar, Aug 13 (KNO): Cluster University Srinagar (CUS) Tuesday clarified that the schedule for conduct of UG exams of 6th semester students was framed after consultation of the concerned stakeholders.
Officials of CUS in a statement said that it had consulted the students, and that the varsity is expediting declaration of results so that desirous candidates can seek admission in various postgraduate courses at University of Kashmir.
In a timeline of the developments and facts of the matter as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), reads that CUS notified the date-sheet of UG Semester 6examinations on June 7, 2024 after consultation with principals of constituent colleges.
The exams were scheduled to be held from July 2, 2024. CUS official said that after the date-sheet was notified, the university received student representations, stating that their syllabus was incomplete with the request that the examination may be deferred.
“The students’ representation was taken up in a meeting with principals and subsequently in the 5th Academic Council meeting of the university held on 11th June 2024 where it was unanimously decided that the exams be held from 22nd July 2024,” the official said.
It also said that the university received representations from few students, stating that the examination dates clashed with entrance test dates of University of Kashmir.
“Subsequently, at the request of Director Admissions, Kashmir University, a revised date-sheet was framed and the examinations commenced from 25th July 2024.
Meanwhile, the IG Semester 6 examinations concluded on 25th July 2024 and the results were declared within two days on 27th July 2024, reflecting the seriousness of the varsity to expedite the results,” It reads.
The CUS official further said that nine students had submitted a representation that they have appeared in the entrance test of Kashmir University for various programs. “But since the University of Kashmir has not issued the final selection list yet, their concerns regarding hassles in PG admissions are unfounded.”
It further said that in the interest of the student community, the matter has been taken up with the administration of University of Kashmir, including Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Dean College Development Council, Director Admissions and Controller of Examinations.
“The university authorities have taken note of the student concerns and an amicable solution is being worked out,” it reads.
In this regard, CUS further clarified that it was committed to declare the results of the ongoing Semester 6 examinations in the shortest possible span of time after the culmination of exams on 20th August 2024 as was done in the case of various IG programmes run by the university.
“This is to further reiterate that Cluster University Srinagar has a proper grievance redressal mechanism and the concerns of students are always taken up seriously on priority basis.
We are committed to facilitate the students as they embark on their journey of pursuing higher studies in various educational institutions within and outside the UT of J&K,” it reads—(KNO)
