Candidates shortlisted for AP posts demand urgent, fair interviews at KU

Srinagar, Nov 13: The candidates, who have been shortlisted for the Assistant Professor positions at the University of Kashmir, on Wednesday urged the authorities to ensure their interviews are held as soon as possible.

Notably, the interviews were scheduled to begin on November 11, but were postponed without prior notice, leaving many frustrated and questioning the transparency of the recruitment process and requested the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene in the matter.

Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the candidates said they have been waiting for years for this opportunity.

One of the candidates said, “The delays in the University’s hiring process have become a pattern, and candidates worry about the age limit.” He added the current situation has caused stress and disappointment among them and are hoping for fair treatment.

“We have been waiting for years, putting so much time into our studies and preparation. Now, just when we thought our chance had finally come, there’s another delay, and it is really disappointing,” they said.

Notably, some candidates told KNO they fear that there may be other reasons for the delay, as rumors have circulated on social media suggesting possible favouritism in the process, especially since the Vice-Chancellor’s term is ending soon—(KNO)
