Scholarship Opportunity for Children of Handicrafts Artisans in Srinagar

The Office of the Assistant Director Handicrafts, Srinagar, has announced a scholarship program for children of registered artisans and weavers under the Education Scheme. This initiative aims to provide financial support to eligible students and encourage their educational pursuits.

Key Details:

• Application Forms:
  The forms are available free of cost at the Assistant Director Handicrafts office in Srinagar and concerned Handicrafts Block Offices from 07/01/2025. Applicants can also download the forms from the official Instagram account (hhssrinagar) or Facebook page (HHSrinagar).
• Deadline:
  The last date for submission of completed application forms is 25/01/2025 at the respective offices.

Scholarship Amounts:
The following scholarships will be provided to eligible children of artisans:

1. Up to Primary Education: ₹1500 per student per year.
2. 6th to 10th Class: ₹2000 per student per year.
3. 11th to 12th Class: ₹3000 per student per year.
4. Technical/Professional Courses: As per the actual course fee fixed by the government.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Applicants must be registered with the Handicrafts and Handloom Department and hold a valid registration card or certificate.
2. Must belong to Below Poverty Line (BPL), Priority Household (PHH), or Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) categories OR possess an Economic Weaker Section (EWS) certificate.
3. Annual income should be below ₹90,000, supported by an income certificate issued by a First-Class Magistrate or Tehsildar.
4. Applicants must obtain an NOC from the concerned Zonal Educational Officer and Tehsil Social Welfare Officer.
5. For professional course students, original fee receipts must be attached with the application form.

Important Note:
The scholarship is limited to a maximum of two children per artisan family. Children who have availed scholarships from other departments in the current financial year (2024-2025) are not eligible to apply.
