Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Central University of Jammu invites applications for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under the Indo-Swiss Joint Research Project “Ice Nucleating Particles and Cloud Condensation Nuclei Properties in the North-Western Himalayas (ICE-CRUNCH).” This project, in collaboration with ETH Zurich, Switzerland, provides a unique opportunity to study aerosol properties at a high-altitude site in the Jammu region.

The JRF position is initially for one year and can be extended up to three years or completion of the project, whichever is earlier.

Project Details

• Title: Ice Nucleating Particles and Cloud Condensation Nuclei Properties in the North-Western Himalayas (ICE-CRUNCH)
• Description: The project includes an intensive field campaign at a high-altitude location (>2000 m) in the North-Western Himalayas. Both offline and online measurements will be performed using state-of-the-art instruments to study cloud-forming and ice-nucleating properties of atmospheric aerosols.
• Funding Agency: Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES)
• Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
• Monthly Fellowship: ₹37,000 + 10% HRA

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications:

1. M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences/Atmospheric Sciences with a minimum of 55% marks.
2. NET/GATE or an equivalent examination qualification.

Desirable Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of aerosol measurement techniques.
• Experience in data analysis using MATLAB, Python, or similar software.
