Traffic Situation and Advisory

The Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, Jammu/Srinagar, has issued an important update regarding the movement of vehicles on various highways in the region. The advisory is crucial for travelers, transport operators, and security convoys to ensure safe and smooth transit.

Current Traffic Conditions on NH-44 (Jammu-Srinagar Highway)

From 03-02-2025, 1700 hrs to 04-02-2025, 1700 hrs, slow movement was observed on NH-44 due to the following reasons:

  • Single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, and between Marog and Kishtwari Pather.
  • Four-lane construction work along the route.
  • Risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.

Guidelines for Travelers on NH-44

  2. Goods Carriers (HMV/LMV): Vehicles carrying fresh perishables and livestock must follow the advisory issued by the Traffic Police Headquarters due to single-lane restrictions and poor road conditions.
  3. HVM Operators:
    • Overloading is strictly prohibited.

    • Ensure proper vehicle fitness before traveling.
  4. HMVs with 06 and 10 tyres will be allowed to ply through Dhar Road.
