Vacancies Being Filled, Universities Collaborating to Provide PG Students as Teachers for Three Months: Dir School Edu Kmr
Srinagar, Mar 07 (JKNS): The School Education Department in Kashmir has launched a region-wide enrollment drive, aiming to boost student admissions in government schools. The initiative, led by Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Dr. G.N. Itoo, will run from March 7 to March 15, with active participation from school heads, teachers, and students.
As per news agency JKNS, government schools are offering free admissions to encourage higher enrollment rates. In addition, the department is actively filling vacancies to ensure a well-staffed learning environment for students.
To maximize outreach, door-to-door campaigns have been launched, with teachers and officials engaging with communities to identify and enroll children not attending school. This initiative is aimed at ensuring every child has access to education, regardless of financial constraints.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. G.N. Itoo said the enrollment drive will continue for the next few weeks. He urged parents to enroll their children in government schools, emphasizing the availability of qualified teachers and improved facilities.
Acknowledging the staff shortages, Itoo said that while many vacancies have already been filled, efforts are underway to address the remaining gaps. “Where there is an immediate need, teachers are being sent on a rotational basis to prevent disruptions in learning,” he stated.
He further announced that the department has partnered with the University of Kashmir, Central University, and IUST, which will send postgraduate students to teach in schools for three months. These students will primarily focus on subjects like Mathematics and Science.
Highlighting the affordability of government schools, Itoo reiterated that admissions are free, with minimal annual charges.
The initiative reflects the department’s commitment to enhancing educational standards and accessibility, ensuring that quality education remains within reach for all students in Kashmir. (JKNS)
