Reopening of Schools in Jammu Division from May 15, 2025: Key Zones and Guidelines
Jammu, May 14, 2025:
The Directorate of School Education, Jammu (DSEJ), has officially announced the reopening and continued closure of schools (both government and private recognized) in various zones across five districts in the Jammu division, effective May 15, 2025.
According to the official order issued from the DSEJ headquarters at Muthi Camp, Jammu, the decision is based on zone-specific considerations. The schools will either remain closed or reopen depending on their respective locations within the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch.
Zone-wise School Status
1. Jammu District
Schools to remain closed in: Arnia, Bishnah, RS Pura, Miran Sahib, Satwari, Marh, Akhnoor, Jourian, Khour
Schools to reopen in: Chowki Choura, Dhansal, Bhalwal, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Purmandal
2. Samba District
Schools to remain closed in: Samba, Ramgarh, Ghagwal
Schools to reopen in: Purmandal, Vijaypur
3. Kathua District
Schools to remain closed in: Marheen, Hiranagar
Schools to reopen in: Barnoti, Lakhanpur, Sallan, Ghagwal, Kathua
4. Rajouri District
Schools to remain closed in: Manjakote, Doongi, Nowshara, Dandesar, Sunderbani, Rajouri, Baljarallan
Schools to reopen in: Peeri, Kalakote, Thanamandi, Moghla, Kotranka, Khawas, Lower Hathal, Darhal
5. Poonch District
Schools to remain closed in: Mankote, Mendhar, Balakote, Harni, Nangali, Mandi, Kanuyian, Sathra, Poonch
Schools to reopen in: Surankote, Buffliaz
Guidelines for Implementation
The Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) are instructed to strictly follow and enforce the guidelines issued by the School Education Department. The aim is to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff during this phased reopening.
Heads of Institutions are advised to resume academic activities in a smooth and disciplined manner while coordinating with local administrative and law enforcement agencies to facilitate the transition.
