All Schools, Colleges, and Universities Across J&K Closed on August 28; Multiple Exams Postponed Amid Bad Weather
Srinagar, Aug 27 (KSA): In view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir, the government has ordered the closure of all educational institutions, including universities, colleges, GCETs, and schools, on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
Kashmir University
Kashmir University has postponed all examinations scheduled for August 28. The Assistant Controller of Examinations said that fresh dates will be notified separately.
JKSSB
The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has announced that the Physical Endurance Test/Physical Standard Test (PET/PST) for police recruitment, which was postponed today, will not be held tomorrow. New dates will be notified by tomorrow evening.
In another notification, JKSSB has also postponed the OMR-based examination for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil) that was scheduled for August 31. The decision was taken due to the ongoing bad weather, though aspirants had earlier demanded postponement citing a clash with the UPSC exams on the same date.
Cluster University Srinagar
All examinations scheduled by the Cluster University Srinagar on August 28 have been postponed. Fresh dates will be announced separately, according to the Controller of Examinations.
Islamia College
Islamia College has postponed its BG 2nd Semester examinations scheduled for tomorrow. Revised dates will be notified in due course.
Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST)
The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) has also postponed all its examinations set for August 28 due to inclement weather.
Summary
With heavy rains disrupting normal life across the Union Territory, students have received confirmation of closure and postponement from all major educational institutions. The revised schedules will be issued separately by the concerned authorities.
