Weather Update for Jammu & Kashmir: 20 November 2025 – Dry Spell Continues, Dip in Temperatures Expected

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh weather forecast for Jammu & Kashmir spanning from 20 November to 10 December 2025. As per the latest outlook, the region is expected to witness mostly dry weather conditions, with only a brief possibility of light snowfall in higher reaches during early December. Alongside the prolonged dry spell, the department has also cautioned about a fall in temperatures and persistent fog, particularly across the Kashmir Valley.

🗓 20 November – 1 December 2025: Dry Conditions to Prevail

Weather will remain generally dry across both divisions of Jammu and Kashmir. Due to the absence of major Western Disturbances, no significant precipitation is expected during this period. Cold temperatures during early mornings and nights may continue to intensify.

🗓 02 – 03 December 2025: Cloudy with Light Snow Possibility

During the afternoon hours on 02 and 03 December, the weather may turn generally cloudy, especially over Kashmir. There is a possibility of a very light spell of snowfall over isolated higher reaches, which may not impact normal life but could bring a slight boost to cold conditions.


🗓 04 – 10 December 2025: Continuation of Dry Pattern

From 04 to 10 December, the weather is expected to settle again with mainly dry conditions across the region. This pattern suggests that winter chill will increase further as skies remain clear during night hours.

The Meteorological Department has shared some important cautions for the public:

  • Shallow to moderate fog is expected to continue at many places in Kashmir Division.
  • Isolated fog patches may form over the Jammu Division, especially in early mornings.
  • Fog may affect transport, visibility, and road safety, particularly during late evening and morning travel hours.

Public Advice:
Drivers are urged to use fog lights, reduce speed, and maintain safe distance on highways and important travel routes like Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and city roads.


🌡 Drop in Temperatures Expected

  • A further dip of 1–2°C in both maximum and minimum temperatures is expected after 22 November onwards.
  • Cold wave conditions may intensify in higher altitudes and valley regions like Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Gurez, Kupwara & Shopian.

Health Advisory:
Stay warm, avoid prolonged exposure to cold air, especially early morning and night.

  • Agriculture activities, especially irrigation routines, will benefit from accurate frost and fog updates.
  • Tourism in popular destinations like Gulmarg and Sonamarg may see an increase as dry weather supports travel plans.
