Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)
Students must meet the following requirements to be eligible:
- Currently enrolled in the penultimate year of their programme.
- Pursuing one of the following courses from a recognised university/institution in India:
• Post-graduate degree (e.g., Master’s)
• Integrated five-year programme
• Three-year full-time professional Bachelor’s degree in Law - Eligible fields include Economics, Finance, Management, Statistics, Commerce, Banking, Econometrics, Law and related areas.
Application Process
Interested students must apply online via the RBI internship portal:
- Visit the official RBI internship page and select the Summer Internship option.
- Fill in personal and academic details in the web-based form.
- Upload essential documents including:
- Recent photograph
- Scanned signature
- Valid ID proof
- Institute bonafide / authorisation certificate
- Submit a statement of purpose and indicate department preferences.
- Choose a Control Office — usually aligned with the state where the student’s institution is located.
Applications must be submitted before December 15, 2025 to be considered.
Selection Procedure
Selection involves a competitive process:
- Shortlisting: Based on eligibility, academic background and application details.
- Interviews: Conducted in January–February 2026 for shortlisted candidates.
- Final Selection: Results communicated by RBI between February and March 2026.
- A limited number of interns (usually around up to 125) are selected each year.
Once selected, interns are placed across various RBI offices throughout India and work on real-time projects, research assignments, data analysis, documentation work and departmental assistance.
Stipend & Benefits
- Monthly Stipend: ₹20,000 for the internship period.
- Travel Support: Though accommodation is not provided, outstation interns may receive reimbursement for AC II-Tier return rail travel between their home location and the assigned RBI office.
- Interns must sign a declaration of secrecy before beginning, as they may be exposed to sensitive information.
