The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar, has issued an official Walk-in Interview Notice inviting applications for the post of Genetic Counselor on a purely temporary basis. The recruitment is being conducted under a DBT-GOI funded project at the Department of Clinical Research, SKIMS Soura.
About the Project
The appointment will be made under the project titled:
“Comprehensive community-oriented screening of pregnant mothers for two common genetic disorders and newborns for five treatable inborn metabolic errors across two aspirational districts of Jammu and Kashmir with establishment of Nidan Kendra under DBT-UMMID Initiative.”
The project is funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, Ministry of Science & Technology, New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a Graduate degree in Science subjects or an equivalent qualification in any of the following disciplines from a recognized university or college:
- Medical / Human Genetics
- Life Sciences
- Nursing
- Clinical Psychology
- Social Work
- Any other related field
Experience
- Minimum one (01) year of hands-on experience in genetic counseling is mandatory.
Remuneration
- Salary will be paid as per DBT/Institute guidelines applicable to the project.

Important Terms & Conditions
- The post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project duration.
- The appointment can be terminated by either side with one month’s notice, without assigning any reason.
- Selected candidates will not have any claim for regular appointment at SKIMS after project completion.
- No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview or joining the post.
- Candidates must make their own arrangements for travel and stay.
- Qualification and experience must be from a Government-recognized/reputed institution.
- Experience will be counted only after acquiring the minimum essential qualification.
