Over 45% Power Restored After Gusty Winds Damage Lines, Poles in Qazigund: AEE KPDCL
Men and machinery on job; full restoration likely by evening if weather remains favourable
Kulgam, Jan 23: Gusty winds accompanied by snowfall caused widespread disruption of electricity supply across the Qazigund belt, plunging several areas into darkness since Thursday.
Officials of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said restoration work is underway, with nearly 45 per cent of power supply restored so far.
Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), KPDCL Sub-Division Qazigund, Waseem Mustafa, said field teams are working round the clock despite harsh weather conditions.
“Our men are on the job and around 45 per cent of electricity has been restored in the Qazigund belt,” he said.
He said power supply has already been restored in parts of Mirbazar and Vessu, while a major fault caused by a puncture in the 33 KV cable on the Qazigund side is still being attended to. “Men and machinery are on the spot to rectify the damage. Once the 33 KV line is restored, electricity supply will be fully resumed across Qazigund,” he added.
The AEE expressed hope that if weather conditions remain favourable, complete restoration of power supply is likely by evening. (KNC)
