Traffic Advisory for January 26, 2026: Day Travel Advised on Jammu–Srinagar NH-44, Several Key Roads Closed
Jammu/Srinagar, Jan 26: Traffic Police Headquarters J&K has issued a traffic plan and advisory for 26-01-2026, urging passengers and LMV operators to prefer daytime travel on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and avoid night journeys due to multiple risks including shooting stones, landslides and slippery road conditions.
Officials said night travel should be avoided on the highway, particularly because of the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides and ongoing construction between Ramban and Banihal.
Traffic Police also warned that frost formation between Nachlana and the NAVYUG Tunnel, due to recent snowfall and snow accumulation, may cause the road to become slippery, creating inconvenience and risk for commuters.
Lane discipline advisory
Commuters have been advised to strictly maintain lane discipline, and avoid:
- Wrong lane driving
- Rash overtaking
Traffic Police said such violations lead to heavy congestion and traffic jams, especially on narrow stretches.
