Govt, Private Schools Share Merit as Pass Percentage Stands at 84.02 in Class 12 Results
Girls dominate merit lists across streams; 17 government school students among top three rank holders
Srinagar, Jan 14: The Annual Higher Secondary Class 12 results declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) saw 84.02 percent results and have presented a detailed comparison of the performance of government and private schools across the Union Territory, with both sectors registering notable academic outcomes.
According to data accessed by news agency JKNS, a total of 70,735 students from Kashmir and the winter zones of Jammu appeared in the October–November 2025 regular examination, out of which 59,435 candidates qualified, taking the overall pass percentage to 84.02 percent.
Girls once again outperformed boys in the results, with the pass percentage of girls standing at 86 percent, while boys recorded a pass rate of 82 percent, reflecting a consistent trend of better academic performance by female students.
Out of 64,486 students whose results were analysed division-wise, 12,975 students belonged to the Jammu Division, while 51,511 students were from the Kashmir Division, indicating steady academic performance across both regions.
In government schools, 3,918 students from Jammu and 5,875 students from Kashmir secured first division, while 1,356 students from Jammu and 2,561 students from Kashmir achieved second division, highlighting the sustained role of government institutions in delivering quality education.
Private schools also performed strongly, with 918 students from Jammu and 6,249 students from Kashmir obtaining first division, while 211 students from Jammu and 4,726 students from Kashmir secured second division, reflecting growing competitiveness in the private education sector.
Significantly, 17 students from government schools featured among the top three position holders across different streams, underlining the strong academic presence of government institutions at the highest merit level.
The merit lists once again showcased the academic dominance of girl students across streams.
In the Science stream, out of the top 11 merit holders, 8 were girls and 3 boys, with 6 students from government schools and 5 from private institutions.
In the Commerce stream, all 11 top merit positions were secured by girls, including 6 from government schools and 5 from private schools.
In the Arts stream, among the top 11, 10 were girls and 1 boy, with 5 students from government schools and 6 from private schools.
In Home Science, all 11 merit positions were bagged by girl students from government schools, underlining their complete dominance in the stream.
Chairman JKBOSE Ghulam Hassan Sheikh congratulated the successful candidates and lauded the efforts of teachers and school administrations.
“The performance of students across both government and private institutions reflects their hard work, resilience and academic discipline,” he said.
He further advised students to remain focused on their future goals, adding, “Education is a continuous journey. Students should use this achievement as a stepping stone towards higher learning and responsible citizenship.” (JKNS)
