New Delhi — Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has officially opened the admission process for the 2026–27 academic year, unveiling an expanded academic portfolio with 30 new programmes while keeping fee structures unchanged across all courses. The university released its detailed prospectus, outlining eligibility, application procedures, entrance exam schedules, and test centre information for various undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate courses.
Significant Expansion of Academic Offerings
In a major academic push, JMI has introduced 30 new programmes across disciplines including humanities, sciences, engineering, social sciences and vocational education. These additions aim to provide students with broader choices aligned with emerging career paths and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Among the new offerings are specialised degrees such as:
- BA (Hons) in Japanese Studies, German Studies and Uzbek Language, Literature & Culture
- BTech in Robotics & Artificial Intelligence and Civil Engineering (Construction Technology)
- MSc in Renewable Energy, Biosciences, Biotechnology and Biophysics
- Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling (RCI-approved)
- Law programmes including LLM in Criminal, Corporate and Personal Law
- ITEP integrated programmes such as BSc BEd (Secondary)
- PG Diploma in Computational Design & AI in Architecture
- Vocational and creative arts certificates including calligraphy and painting
These new programmes broaden JMI’s academic ecosystem and offer students both traditional and industry-oriented pathways.
No Fee Increase, Enhanced Accessibility
In a noteworthy move, the university has not increased fees for any of its courses for the 2026–27 session — a decision welcomed by students and parents amidst rising education costs nationwide.
JMI has also expanded its entrance test infrastructure by adding three new test centres in Jaipur, Dehradun and Kishanganj, taking the total number of centres to 11 nationwide. Existing centres include Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Patna, Kolkata, Srinagar, Calicut and Bhopal, helping make the admission process more accessible.
Multiple Entry Mode Under NEP
In line with the NEP 2020, the university will introduce Multiple Entry Mode for its Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) beginning this academic year. This flexible structure allows students to enter or exit at different stages of the programme, offering academic adaptability that the policy emphasises.
How to Apply
The admission portal is open and prospective students can apply through the official JMI admissions website. Applications are being accepted for programmes across multiple categories, including those conducted through national-level tests such as CUET, JEE Main, NEET, NATA and others, depending on the course. Deadlines vary by programme, with many scheduled through late March 2026 and some options to apply even after qualifying exam result announcements.
