Jammu and Kashmir Government Restores Waiting List for Recruitments
The Administrative Council of Jammu and Kashmir, chaired by LG Manoj Sinha, decided to reconsider its earlier decision and approved the restoration of enabling provisions for drawing up waiting lists in government recruitment. The decision, made during the meeting on February 19, 2024, involves the withdrawal of amendments previously introduced in various recruitment rules.
The amendments affected the J&K Civil Services Decentralization and Recruitment Rules, 2010, J&K Appointment of Class-IV (Special Recruitment) Rules, 2020, J&K Combined Competitive Examination Rules, 2018, and Business Regulations of JKPSC/JKSSB, among others.
As part of this decision, recruiting agencies are granted a one-time exemption to draw up wait lists within six months for select lists issued since the earlier decision. However, this exemption is contingent upon the wait list being drawn within the validity period of the select list and without re-advertising resultant vacancies due to non-joining of selected candidates.
This move is expected to expedite the filling of vacancies, addressing issues such as delays in re-referral of vacancies and reducing the time consumed in subsequent selections. Additionally, it aims to provide candidates with the opportunity to secure employment before reaching the upper age limit, contributing to a more efficient and streamlined recruitment process in Jammu and Kashmir.
