The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, is offering 28 free online courses for students of Classes 11 and 12 through the SWAYAM platform. These Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are designed to provide flexible, self-paced, and high-quality learning opportunities that complement school education. The initiative covers 11 key subjects that are integral to the senior secondary curriculum, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, and English. These courses are crafted by expert faculty members and offer interactive content, video lectures, assessments, and discussion forums to enhance student engagement and understanding.
Students can easily access these courses through the SWAYAM portal (https://swayam.gov.in) or by downloading the SWAYAM mobile application. The last date for enrollment is September 1, 2025. After this date, students will not be able to register for the courses. Exam registration will open shortly after, from September 7 to September 9, and final exams are scheduled to take place between September 10 and 15. These dates also mark the conclusion of the courses. The exams will assess students’ comprehension and learning outcomes, and those who successfully complete the courses and pass the exams will receive certificates, which can be valuable for academic growth and future opportunities.
NCERT and the Ministry of Education strongly encourage schools, teachers, and parents to share this valuable opportunity with students to ensure maximum participation. These free MOOCs can significantly supplement classroom teaching, especially for students seeking deeper understanding or revision support. Additional details, including a flyer and course-specific links, have been provided in the annexure for easy reference and dissemination.
For any queries or support regarding course access, registration, or examinations, students and stakeholders can reach out via email at moocs.helpdesk@ciet.nic.in or call the IVRS helpline at 8800440559. This initiative is a commendable step toward digital learning and inclusive education, helping students across the country benefit from high-quality academic resources at no cost.
