Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday said that 964 posts of Physical Education Teachers are lying vacant across the Union Territory, while clarifying that these posts have been reserved under the Rehbar e Khel policy.

In response to query posed by MLA Sajad Gani Lone, Minister I/C YS&S, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board carried out the selection of 528 Physical Education Teachers between 2013 and 2017.

“After that, all vacant posts were kept reserved following the issuance of the Rehbar e Khel policy through Government Order No 141 Edu YSS of 2017 dated October 27, 2017”, it said.

The Minister further said that the reservation of posts is aimed at regularisation of Rehbar e Khel employees in accordance with the existing policy.

Responding to a query on whether the vacant posts would be de frozen or additional posts created for uncovered schools, the government said there is no such proposal at present—(KNO)

Partly cloudy conditions are expected. Light rain or snow may occur at isolated places, mostly over elevated regions.

🔹 12–13 February:
Weather is expected to remain generally dry across the region.

🔹 14 February:
Skies will be generally cloudy, with a chance of light snowfall at isolated higher reaches.

🔹 15–16 February:
Partly to generally cloudy weather is likely, with no significant precipitation.

🔹 17 February:
A fresh western disturbance may bring light rain/snow at scattered places under generally cloudy skies.

🔹 18–20 February:
Weather will turn partly cloudy, and conditions are expected to stay stable and dry.

JKPSC, JKSSB Collect Over ₹48 Crore as Application Fee in Two Years: Govt in Assembly

Srinagar, Feb 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday said in the assembly that the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) together collected over ₹48 crore as application fee during the last two financial years.

In a written reply to a question raised by PDP MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, the government, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), shared year-wise details of the amount realized by the two recruitment agencies.

The reply revealed that during the financial year 2023–24, JKPSC collected ₹7.39 crore, while JKSSB realized ₹7.09 crore as application fee from aspirants.

In the financial year 2024–25, the amount witnessed a sharp rise, with JKPSC collecting ₹10.50 crore, whereas JKSSB realized a significantly higher amount of ₹23.88 crore through application fees.

Overall, the government said that JKPSC collected a total of ₹17.90 crore, while JKSSB collected ₹30.98 crore over the two financial years.

The figures indicate that the large number of applicants appearing in various recruitment examinations across the Union Territory. (KNC)

For students opting to enter via the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT), the entrance test is scheduled on Sunday, June 7, 2026. This test serves as the core selection mechanism for candidates choosing this route, assessing their conceptual understanding and analytical skills in science subjects.

The IAT is typically held as a computer-based test covering key areas of:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics
  • Biology

This format challenges students on higher-order thinking and problem-solving, making it a rigorous benchmark for admission into IISER’s flagship programmes.
