State Bank of India (SBI) has officially invited online applications for the recruitment of Circle Based Officer (CBO) posts. This is a major recruitment drive aimed at strengthening SBI’s workforce across various circles. As per the notification, the recruitment will be conducted for a total of 2050 vacancies in the organisation. The online registration process started on January 29, 2026, and candidates can submit their applications till February 18, 2026. Applicants are advised to complete the registration well before the last date to avoid technical delays due to heavy traffic on the website. Candidates should keep their important documents ready, including educational certificates, age proof, category certificates (if applicable), and scanned copies of photograph and signature while applying online.
For eligibility, candidates must possess a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or must hold an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government of India. The eligibility also includes candidates holding professional qualifications such as Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant (CA), and Cost Accountant. The selection process for SBI CBO recruitment will be conducted through multiple stages including an online test, screening, and interview. The online test will contain two components: an Objective Test of 120 marks and a Descriptive Test of 50 marks. The descriptive exam will be conducted immediately after the objective test, and candidates will have to type their answers on the computer system, making basic typing skills necessary for aspirants.
The Descriptive Test duration is 30 minutes and it is designed to assess the candidate’s English writing skills through Letter Writing and Essay. There will be two questions for a total of 50 marks. SBI has clarified that there will be no sectional qualifying marks, but candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in aggregate, which will be decided by the bank. Performance in each stage is important since only shortlisted candidates will move forward to screening and the interview stage.
As far as the application fee is concerned, candidates belonging to the General / EWS / OBC categories will have to pay ₹750/-. However, candidates from SC / ST / PwBD categories are exempted from paying any application fee. The fee payment must be completed online using debit card, credit card, or internet banking, and any transaction charges applied during the payment process will be borne by the candidate. The Descriptive Test will be administered immediately after conclusion of the Objective Test and candidates will have to type their Descriptive Test answers on the computer.
The duration of Descriptive Test is 30 minutes. It will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay) with two questions for total 50 marks. There will be no sectional qualifying marks. There is minimum qualifying marks on aggregate and the minimum qualifying marks will be as decided by the Bank.
Application Fee
The application fee is ₹750/- for General / EWS/ OBC category. SC/ ST/ PwBD category candidates are exempted from fee. The payment can be made by using debit card/ credit card/ Internet Banking by providing information as asked on the screen. Transaction charges for online payment, if any, will be borne by the candidates.
