Jammu-Srinagar NHW Traffic Advisory and Plan for March 17, 2025
Traffic Update for March 15-16, 2025
The Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, has reported slow traffic movement on National Highway-44 (Jammu-Srinagar NHW) between 1700 hrs on March 15, 2025, and 1700 hrs on March 16, 2025. The disruptions were caused due to:
- Breakdown of five Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs)
- Single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Peeda, Mehad, and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather
- Ongoing four-lane construction work
Advisory for Travelers
- Daytime Travel Recommended: Passengers and LMV operators should travel during the daytime as there is a risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
- Goods Carrier Operators: HMVs and LMVs carrying fresh perishable items or livestock must adhere to the traffic advisory due to poor road conditions at Dalwas, Mehad, and Marog-Kishtwari Pather.
- Overloading & Fuel Management:
- HMVs operators should avoid overloading.
- Vehicles must carry sufficient fuel and ensure roadworthiness before starting the journey.
- Dhar Road Route for HMVs: Only 06- and 10-tyre HMVs are allowed on Dhar Road.
- Avoid Unnecessary Stops: Commuters should avoid halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially in landslide-prone areas.
