The University of Kashmir (UoK) has officially notified a revised question paper pattern and distribution of marks for Post Graduate (PG) Programmes and Five-Year Integrated Master’s Programmes (FYIMP) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The changes will be implemented from the Academic Session 2025 onwards, as per a circular issued by the Examination Wing of the University.

  • Internal Assessment: 7 Marks per credit

  • 08 questions
  • Answers of 10–20 words
  • Marks:
    • 4-credit course: 8×2 = 16 marks
    • 3-credit & 2-credit courses: 8×1 = 8 marks

Section B: Medium Answer Questions

  • 04 questions with internal choices
  • Answers of 200–250 words
  • Marks vary by credit:
    • 4-credit: 4×6 = 24 marks
    • 3-credit: 4×4 = 16 marks
    • 2-credit: 4×3 = 12 marks

Section C: Long Answer Questions

  • Attempt 2 out of 4 questions

Question Paper Pattern for FYIMP Courses Under NEP 2020

As per Annexure-II, the Five-Year Integrated Master’s Programme follows a slightly broader structure, covering different course categories such as:

  • Value Added Courses (VAC)
  • Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC)
  • Multidisciplinary Courses
  • Major / Minor / Skill Enhancement (SE) Courses

Examination Duration

  • Two and a Half Hours (2:30 hours) for all FYIMP courses

Section-Wise Structure (FYIMP)

Section A: Short Answer Type

  • 08 questions
  • 10–20 words each
  • Marks range between 8 to 16 marks, depending on course type and credits

Section B: Medium Answer Type

  • 04 questions with alternatives
  • 200–250 words
  • Marks vary from 12 to 28 marks

Section C: Long Answer Type

  • Attempt 2 out of 4 questions
  • 400–500 words
