172 Employees Found Absent As DC Orders Surprise Inspections In Poonch
Poonch: In a crackdown on absenteeism and to reinforce administrative discipline, the Deputy Commissioner of Poonch has ordered district-wide surprise inspections across government offices.
Special teams constituted for the purpose conducted raids across the district, including at the district headquarters. During the inspections, as many as 172 employees were found absent from duty without authorization.
Taking serious note of the lapses, the administration has issued show-cause notices to all absentee employees, seeking explanations before any disciplinary action is initiated, officials told GNS.
In addition, all Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) have been instructed to withhold the salaries of the employees found absent until further orders.
Reaffirming a zero-tolerance stance on dereliction of duty, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for punctuality, accountability, and strict adherence to official responsibilities to ensure efficient public service delivery, they added.(GNS)
