Govt to take up establishment of FMGE exam centres in Kashmir with GoI

Srinagar, Mar 19 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said that it will take up the matter of establishing Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) centers in Baramulla, Anantnag, and Srinagar with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Minister I/C Health & Medical Education Department, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), confirmed that the matter would be taken up with the relevant central ministry.

The minister responsed to query raised by MLA Dr. Sajad Shafi, who sought clarification on whether the government would push for the establishment of FMGE examination centers in these locations to facilitate aspiring foreign medical graduates from the region.

Notably, the demand for local examination centers has been a long-standing request from Kashmiri medical graduates who complete their studies abroad.

Currently, the students from Kashmir are required to travel to centres in Samba, Noida, or Amritsar to appear for the FMGE, causing logistical and financial difficulties—(KNO)
