JEE Main 2024: NTA Analysis Reveals 27% Surge in Session 1 Registrations

JEE Main 2024 Session 1: Record-breaking Registrations and Noteworthy Achievements

The recently concluded Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 session 1 witnessed a significant surge in registrations, with a remarkable 27% increase compared to the previous year. A total of 12,21,624 candidates participated in the examination held between January 24 and February 1 across 544 exam centers in 291 cities in India and overseas.

Despite the surge in candidates, the National Testing Agency (NTA) efficiently conducted the session in 10 shifts, two fewer than the previous year. The agency reported that the first shift on January 27 saw the highest number of 100 percentile scorers (8), followed by other shifts on January 29, 30, and 31, as well as both shifts on February 1.

Interestingly, the NTA adopted a randomized approach in selecting question papers, ensuring each shift received a similar but undisclosed difficulty level. The agency emphasized its practice of releasing percentile scores instead of raw scores, clarifying that the normalized scores are used for merit list preparation.

Notably, the results for the paper 1 (BTech/BE) examination have already been announced, unveiling the achievements of the candidates who participated in this highly competitive examination. The data shared by the NTA provides valuable insights into the distribution of top scorers across different shifts.

As the JEE Main continues to be a critical gateway for aspiring engineers, the increased participation and notable performances in the 2024 session 1 highlight the dedication and capabilities of the candidates. The NTA’s commitment to fair and transparent evaluation processes ensures that the examination remains a reliable benchmark for students seeking admission to top engineering institutes.
