Mehbooba asks party workers to ‘extend full support’ to yatris
Appeals govt to ensure hosts don’t face inconvenience during the yatra movement
Srinagar, Jun 21 (KNO): Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said the party workers have been directed to ensure “throughout support” to the Amarnath Yatra.
“Ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, we have called some important party functionaries from Anantnag and Ganderbal district so that they direct the party workers to ensure the throughout help and support to pilgrims coming for Amarnath Yatra,” Mufti, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said.
She said attempts are being made across the country to vitiate the atmosphere between Hindus and Muslims, citing that the shops of Muslims in many places are being vandalised.
Mehbooba said Kashmir has been a place that has always given a message of brotherhood and this yatra is a golden opportunity for the people of the valley to “remind the whole country about the Kashmiryat”.
The PDP chief said she has appealed to all her workers to make the yatra a successful one by extending the “fullest support from all possible quarters” to them.
“However, I have a request for the government that while facilitating the yatra during their movement, the local population should not face any inconvenience,” she said.
“The local people, who are the hosts of the yatra, should not face any inconvenience, as we saw last year that many patients could not reach the hospital and in some cases, some women delivered their babies on their way to the hospital,” she said—(KNO)
