Waqf Board bans entry of Footwear into Praying areas at Waqf Notified Mosques & Shrines

Initiates process for establishment of Shoe racks under CCTV Surveillance at all places

Srinagar, June 10, KDC: In yet another reformative initiative, Chairperson J&K Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi has issued orders to ban entry of Footwear into Praying areas of Waqf Controlled Mosques & Shrines.

The order according to news agency Kashmir Dot Com issued in this regard reads that the devotees/worshippers are often seen praying in the vicinity of the footwear they carry along, that not only creates unhygienic conditions, but also breaches the sacrosanctity of these religious places.

The Engineering Wing & the other staff have been accordingly directed to put in place necessary arrangements for safe custody of footwear outside the praying areas by installation of Shoe racks under CCTV Surveillance, it said.

After the necessary arrangements are put in place, Shrine & Mosque Administrators have been directed to immediately impose the ban on entry of footwear into praying areas.

Pertinently, the ban shall come immediately into force wherever adequate Shoe racks under CCTV Surveillance are already available. (KDC)

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Secondary Education (JKBOSE) will announce the Class 10 result this week. the Class 10 result can be expected between June 11 to 16. “Will try to announce the Class 10 result either on June 13, 14, 15 or 16,” the official said. The students can check JKBOSE 10th result 2023 on the official website- jkbose.nic.in.

Over a lakh students appeared in the Class 10 exam this year; the 10th exam for soft zone was held from March 9 to April 5, while for hard zone, the exam conducted from April 8 to May 9, 2023. The minimum passing marks in the JKBOSE Class 10 exam is 33 per cent.

Last year, the girls pass percentage in the JKBOSE 10th exam was 83.65 per cent, while for boys, it was 78.01 per cent.

Meanwhile, JKBOSE announced the Class 12 result on June 9. A total of 65 per cent students got qualified in Class 12 exam successfully this year, the pass percentage of girls was 68 per cent while 61 per cent for boys.

Srinagar, Jun 10 (KNO): A group of class 12th students from Kakapora, Pulwama Saturday held a demonstration here in press enclave Srinagar against the alleged discrepancy in results announced by Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE).

A group of protesting students while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that scores of students of Government Higher Secondary School Kakapora have been marked absent for practical paper of chemistry subject and subsequently marked as ‘reappear.’

“We have scored good marks in the theory paper, and due to the practical discrepancy, the entire subject is shown as ‘reappear,’ which has left us mentally disturbed,” they said,

The protesting students further said that they had met their concerned school authorities about the issue. “They informed us that they had submitted our awards and had also spoken to the board officials.”

According to the protesting students, the officials have stated that it was a technical glitch and not the fault of students.

Despite this, we are facing a lot of humiliation,” they said.

“Now, we request the BOSE authorities to rectify the mistake at earliest so that our results be are updated,” the students said.

They also said that almost 30 students from the Kakapora higher secondary along with two other students from the same village, are facing these issues.

Meanwhile, BOSE officials didn’t respond to the calls from the reporter—(KNO)

Anantnag, Jun 10 (KNO): A woman died in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag after she came to know that her son has failed to qualify class 12th exam, results of which were declared on Friday.

Locals told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Jameela Akhtar wife of Mohammad Rafiq Malik of Danwethpora Kokarnag suffered massive cardiac arrest.

“She was rushed to SDH Kokernag where she was declared dead on arrival,” they said.

They said that she suffered heart attack after learning that her son has failed to qualify class 12th exam—(KNO)

Srinagar, June 10 (GNS): Mainly dry weather has been forecast in Jammu and Kashmir where night temperature increased and settled above normal at most places on Saturday.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that weather is mainly going to be “dry” in the next 24 hours and that no “large change” was expected either till June 12.

Regarding the temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 16.0°C against 14.7°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 1.7°C for the summer capital.

Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 13.6°C against 12.8°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 0.7°C for the gateway town of Kashmir.

Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of 7.6°C against 7.2°C on the previous night and it was 0.6°C below normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 13.9°C against 11.8°C on the previous night and it was 1.3°C above normal for the north Kashmir area.

Kokernag recorded a low of 10.8°C against 9.9°C on the previous night and it was 1.3°C below normal for the place, the officials said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 11.6°C against 10.4°C on previous night and it was above normal by 2.8°C for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said.

Jammu recorded a low of 27.9°C against 26.0°C on the previous night and it was 2.2°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.

Banihal recorded a low of 14.1°C (normal), Batote 15.4°C (0.5°C above normal), Katra 24.6°C (2.5°C above normal) and Bhaderwah 11.3°C (below normal by 2.2°C). Ladakh’s Leh and Kargil recorded a low of 10.2°C and 15.0°C respectively, he said. (GNS)

Blinded by pellets in 2016, Insha Mushtaq qualifies class 12th board exams

Among the nearly 65 per cent of the candidates who passed class 12th board exams on Friday is the 20-year-old Insha Muhstaq.

Blinded by pellets in the year 2016, Insha Mushtaq, a resident of Shopian’s Sedow area has qualified the class 12th board exams.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, over the phone, a relative of Insha confirmed that she (Insha) had passed the board exams of class 12th with first division.

Expressing joy over Insha’s results, the family said, “They are extremely joyous that Insha has been able to pursue many of her dreams despite the fact that she is visually impaired.”

On July 11, 2016, Insha, then 14, opened the window of her house to look out at the protests raging against the killing Burhan Wani at her native in Sedow, Shopian. The next moment, the forces deployed in the area fired a volley of pellets indiscriminately, hitting Insha in the face, skull and her eyes. Insha has not been able to see since then.

Fearing that she had been hit by a bullet, the family rushed her to the District Hospital in Shopian, where doctors referred her to a Kashmir’s tertiary care hospital in Srinagar. She was also taken to various hospital in Delhi and elsewhere, but she could not gain her eyesight.

Insha, whose pellet-riddled face forced a debate around the use of pellets in Kashmir, qualified her class 10 examinations in 2018 despite facing a complete loss of sight in both eyes.

Insha, now 20, is one of the hundreds of teenagers who have become pellet guns’ collateral damaged. (The Kashmiriyat)
