PM Modi Urges Online Classes, Work From Home To Reduce Fuel Usage Amid Iran-US War Impact

PM Modi Advocates Work-From-Home, Online Classes to Conserve Fuel Amid Middle East Crisis

New Delhi, May 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to adopt fuel-saving measures, including work-from-home practices, online classes, virtual meetings and increased use of public transport, in view of the escalating Middle East crisis and rising pressure on global energy supplies.

Addressing concerns over the economic impact of the ongoing tensions in West Asia, PM Modi emphasized the need to reduce fuel consumption and conserve foreign exchange reserves. He appealed to offices, educational institutions and businesses to revive remote working systems wherever possible to minimize unnecessary travel and fuel usage.

The Prime Minister also encouraged people to prefer metro services, carpooling and online conferences, saying such measures could significantly cut dependence on imported petroleum products. He reportedly linked fuel conservation with national economic stability amid uncertainty in international oil markets.

According to reports, the Centre is also considering emergency steps to safeguard foreign exchange reserves as global crude oil prices continue to witness volatility due to the Middle East conflict.

The remarks have sparked widespread discussions across corporate and educational sectors, with many companies reportedly evaluating the feasibility of hybrid and remote work arrangements similar to those adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic.(KNC)
