Around 53k tourists visit Sonamarg in January month alone
Snowfall attracts more visitors to place
Ganderbal, Feb 12 (KNO): The white-out in Sonamarg has attracted a large number of tourists while the authorities concerned said that 53,000 tourists have visited the place in the month of January.
After the recent snowfall, Sonamarg has turned more beautiful where the tourists can be seen enjoying by taking sledge rides and snow skiing.
Tourist Officer, Basharat Hussain told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the fresh snowfall has led to a spike in tourist footfall at a popular tourist destination, Sonamarg.
In the month of January alone, Sonamarg witnessed a footfall of around 53000 tourists from different places which include 52,131 domestic, 1070 foreigners 1070 and 858 locals, he said.
The Department of Tourism has made adequate arrangements to boost tourism in Sonamarg during the winter months, and adventure activities like skiing, ice skating, etc. have been promoted to increase the footfall of tourists in the area.
Shweta from Mumbai told KNO that, “I was little disappointed as there was no snowfall for a long time, but now they have got a chance to enjoy in the snowfall.”— (KNO)
