Sports Global Excellence Scholarship 2025 is an opportunity offered by the University of Gloucestershire (UOG) for students pursuing undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) taught programs at the university. This scheme aims to support high-performing student-athletes who wish to combine their high-performance sports with their studies. The selected students will receive a tuition fee waiver of up to £7,500 (approximately ₹8,24,217).

- be an international fee-payer and self-funding* for at least 100% of the tuition fee
- be studying an on campus on a full-time undergraduate degree (minimum 3 years) or postgraduate taught degree (minimum 2 semesters) at the university
- be able to demonstrate their performance at the required level in the performance sport

The US applicants applying for the scholarship must meet the following minimum academic criteria:-
- A high school diploma (HSD) with a minimum GPA of 3.6 (out of a 4.0 scale).
- Strong performance on standardised tests accepted by US universities, such as the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, AP exams/classes, ACT, or honours/college-level classes.
- For postgraduate programs, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.4 out of a 4.0 scale or a minimum score of 80% on a recognised grading scale.

The following students are not eligible to avail the scholarship:-
- Candidates must not be a recipient of any other scholarship from the University of Gloucestershire
- Candidate must not have previously been awarded an undergraduate merit scholarship from the University.

Selected candidates will receive the benefits as follows:-
1. Scholarship:
The scholarship will be provided as a tuition fee waiver across all years of study.
2. In addition to the scholarship, the Global Sports Scholars and those athletes in a first team in one of the performance sports can also expect to receive:

- Academic transcripts, including marksheets and certificates
- Admission offer from the University of Gloucestershire for an undergraduate or postgraduate taught course
- A valid passport (if applicable)
- Financial statements (if applicable)

- Applicants can only submit one scholarship application in any academic year.

Selection Criteria
The scholarship award recipients will be determined by a dedicated awarding committee. All decisions made by the awarding committee will be considered final.
Terms and Conditions
- Applicants must accept the offer and pay the full advised advanced payment within 28 days of receiving the award letter. Failure to do so within this timeframe may result in the scholarship being withdrawn and offered to another candidate.
- All scholarship offers are contingent upon enrollment in an undergraduate or postgraduate course at the University of Gloucestershire. If a student withdraws from their studies or their enrollment is terminated for any reason, the scholarship will be discontinued, and no further tuition fee waivers will be applied.
- Failure to fully engage with the Sports Scholarship Programme may result in the withdrawal of funding and/or removal from the program at the University’s discretion.
- Scholarship recipients are required to attend several events throughout the year. This includes an initial group meeting, ongoing professional development (CPD) events focused on scholarships, and any additional workshops relevant to their specific scholarship or sport. Attendance at these events is mandatory and will be factored into the scholarship review process, ensuring recipients remain engaged and committed to their academic and athletic pursuits.
- Scholars are required to stay in touch with the scholarship team and share updates on their progress and achievements throughout the year.
- Scholars will be responsible for ensuring their social media posts are appropriate and that their online behaviour and actions reflect positively on themselves, their sport, and the University.
- Scholars must check their university email accounts regularly to receive updates from the Sport Scholarship Team.
- The scholar will grant permission for the University of Gloucestershire to use photographs and footage captured by approved photographers or staff for promotional marketing and Internet purposes. The scholar will further acknowledge that they may be required to be available for reasonable publicity initiatives deemed appropriate by the university.
- The University of Gloucestershire will process the scholar’s personal data for scholarship purposes in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Sports:-
- Athletes are expected to represent the University of Gloucestershire in BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) competitions, either through team participation or individual events. Exceptions may be granted in special circumstances with prior approval.
- Athletes may be required to represent themselves, their university, and/or their club at the regional, national, or international level.
Academic:-
- Scholars are expected to fully engage in their academic studies. The university will conduct regular checks to monitor progress.
- Scholars must understand the importance of staying in contact with their personal academic tutor. The Sports Scholarship team also reserves the right to discuss academic progress with the tutor.
- Scholarship reviews will be conducted 2-3 times per year and will include feedback from Personal Tutors. If a tutor reports a lack of academic engagement, the scholarship team may withhold scholarship payments and services.
Code of Conduct:-
- Scholarship recipients are expected to be respectful, professional representatives of the University by treating others well, using appropriate language, and acting with integrity.
