Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police Advisory for January 20, 2024

   

Passengers and light motor vehicle (LMV) operators are advised to travel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW) during the day. Avoid traveling at night due to the risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal. Heavy motor vehicle (HMV) operators and owners are requested to avoid overloading and carry sufficient fuel while traveling on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW. They should also double-check the fitness of their vehicles before starting their journey. Only HMVs with 6 or 10 tires will be allowed to travel on the Dhar road.

Traffic Plan and Advisory for January 20, 2024: Subject to fair weather and clearance of the road, LMVs, passenger cars, HMVs, and load carriers will be allowed from both sides on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44). Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline.

Security Forces Convoy Movement: Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces (SFs) vehicles will be allowed from both sides on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44).

Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Road: Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, vehicular movement on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road will be allowed from both sides. LMVs followed by HMVs will be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 8:30 am and 11:00 am. Similarly, LMVs followed by HMVs will be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm. No vehicle will be allowed after the cut-off timings. SFs Convoy, plying from Srinagar to Kargil, will leave Srinagar at 8:00 am. SFs Convoy plying from Drass to Srinagar will plan their movement in such a manner so that Civil Traffic doesn’t get disturbed.

Mughal Road: Tomorrow, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, vehicular movement on Mughal road will be allowed from both sides. These vehicles will be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm after the green signal from road agencies.

Advisory:

People are advised to undertake the journey on NH-44 only after confirming the status of the road from Traffic control units.
