Traffic Advisory Update for Jammu & Kashmir – May 16, 2025
TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR has issued the latest advisory for vehicular movement on key highways and roads across Jammu & Kashmir for May 16, 2025, urging travelers to exercise caution and plan their journeys accordingly.
Current Traffic Status (14–15 May 2025)
Between 1700 hrs on May 14 to 1700 hrs on May 15, 2025, slow traffic movement was reported on National Highway-44 (NH-44) due to the following:
- Breakdown of seven heavy motor vehicles (HMVs)
- Movement of 12 nomadic flocks
- Single lane traffic at Dalwas, Peeda, Mehad, and between Marog and Kishtwari Pather
- Ongoing four-lane construction work
Traffic is being regulated particularly at Mehad, Cafeteria, and Ramban due to narrow stretches (150–200 meters). Commuters are strongly advised to maintain lane discipline and avoid overtaking or wrong-lane driving to prevent congestion.
Important Advisory for Commuters
- Daytime travel only is recommended on the Jammu–Srinagar NHW, especially between Ramban and Banihal, due to risks of shooting stones.
- Operators of goods carriers (HMVs/LMVs) transporting perishables or livestock must follow advisories issued by the Traffic Police and avoid overloading.
- All vehicles must be roadworthy and carry sufficient fuel before starting the journey.
- Only 6 and 10-tyre HMVs are permitted via Dhar Road.
- Avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially in landslide-prone zones.
Traffic Plan for May 16, 2025
