The National Testing Agency (NTA) officially commenced the application process for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-PG) 2025 on January 2, 2025.
This year, the NTA has introduced significant updates in the examination pattern, fees, and exam centres.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) officially commenced the application process for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-PG) 2025 on January 2, providing a gateway to postgraduate programmes in central universities and other participating institutions. Interested candidates can register on the official NTA website by 1 February 2025.

Major Changes in CUET PG 2025

This year, the NTA has introduced significant updates in the examination pattern, fees, and exam centres:

Reduced Exam Duration

The exam duration has been further reduced to 1.5 hours (90 minutes), compared to 1 hour 45 minutes (105 minutes) last year and 2 hours (120 minutes) previously. Despite the shorter duration, the number of questions remains the same at 75.

Changes in Exam Centres

Additionally, the number of domestic exam cities has decreased from 300 to 285, but new international centers have been added in Abu Dhabi (UAE), Oslo (Norway), and Frankfurt/Berlin (Germany). Candidates now have the option to select four preferred cities for the exam instead of two.

Increased Application Fee

The application fee has also been revised. For candidates applying within India, the fee has increased by ₹200 for up to two test papers, with an additional ₹100 for each extra paper. International applicants face a fee hike of ₹1,000 for up to two test papers and ₹1,500 for any additional papers.

These changes aim to streamline the process while accommodating a broader range of candidates globally.

Srinagar, January 4, 2025: The Office of the Controller of Examinations at the University of Kashmir has issued a notification regarding the postponement of examinations scheduled for January 6, 2025, in view of the holiday marking the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

This decision has been taken to ensure observance of the auspicious occasion and to facilitate students and staff in celebrating the day with due reverence.

Students and other concerned parties are informed that fresh dates for the postponed examinations will be announced separately. All stakeholders are advised to keep checking the official university website and notifications for updates.

MeT Predicts Snowfall From Tonight Till Monday Morning In Most Parts Of J&K

Says There Is Possibility Of ‘Heavy Snow’ Over Middle, Higher Reaches Of Kashmir, Chenab Valley

Srinagar, Jan 4 (GNS): Weatherman on Saturday predicted snowfall at most places of Jammu and Kashmir with “peak activity” during January 4 night to January 5 (late night) and Monday morning.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that there is possibility of “heavy snow” over middle and higher reaches of Kashmir as well as Chenab Valley during the time.

“Generally cloudy weather is expected with light to moderate rain (plains of Jammu)/snow at most places of J&K with peak activity during (January) 4th (Night) to 5th (late Night)/6th morning,” the official said. He said improvement in the weather activity is expected from the afternoon of January 6.

From January 7-10, he said, generally cloudy and dry weather is expected. Similarly, he said, generally cloudy weather with light snow is expected at isolated to scattered places from January 11-12. Generally dry is expected from January 13-1, he said.

“(There is) possibility of heavy snow over middle and higher reaches of Kashmir and Chenab valley during (January) 4th night to 5th late night/6th morning,” he said.

Also, he said, the weather system was likely to cause temporary disruption of surface and air transportation particularly on January 5.

“Tourists/travellers/Transporters are advised to plan accordingly and follow Admin/Traffic advisory,” he added.

Meanwhile, the official told Global News Service that Srinagar recorded a low of minus 1.6°C which was 0.8°C above normal.

Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of minus 6.6°C and it was 3.6°C below normal for the gateway town of the Valley.

Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of minus 2.6°C and it was 3.3°C above normal for the famous tourist resort in Anantnag district. Kokernag recorded a low of minus 5.8°C and Kupwara minus 2.2°C, he said.

Jammu recorded a low of 8.7°C, Banihal 3.0°C, Batote 6.5°C, Katra 11.2°C and Bhadarwah 3.0°C, he added.

Kashmir is under the grip of Chillai-Kalan, the 40-day long harsh winter period that started on December 21. It does not mean an end to the winter either. It is followed by a 20-day-long period called ‘Chillai-Khurd’ that occurs between January 30 and February 19 and a 10-day-long period ‘Chillai-Bachha’ (baby cold) which is from February 20 to March 1. Umbrella Scheme for Education of ST Students, Pre-Matric Scholarship, Jammu and Kashmir 2024-25

Umbrella Scheme for Education of ST Students, Pre-Matric Scholarship, Jammu and Kashmir 2024-25 is an initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, for students studying in Class 9 and 10. The scholarship aims to support the education of these students to reduce the incidence of drop-out, especially in the transition from the elementary to the secondary stage. The selected candidates will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹350 for 10 months and other grants.

The ‘Inclusive Education of the Disabled at Secondary Stage’ (IEDSS) scheme, run by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), offers financial aid of ₹3,000 per annum to students with disabilities attending secondary-level government, government-aided, and local body schools. This assistance falls under the scheme’s “Student Oriented Component” and aims to support the education of the students at the post-matric level.

However, students in un-aided schools are not covered under the ‘Inclusive Education of the Disabled at Secondary Stage’ (IEDSS).

Therefore, SC students with disabilities, studying in Class 9 and 10 in private un-aided recognised schools, will be eligible for allowances as follows:-

Terms and Conditions
  • The scholarship will be payable for 10 months in an academic year.
  • No scholarship will be awarded to the students who didn’t get promoted to the next class/level.
  • Change in the course of study will not be permitted.
  • The tenure of the award is for two/three years depending upon the period of the postgraduate course and not for an extended period of study.
  • The scholarship of a student will be cancelled in case of discontinuation of studies due to personal reasons or in case of false information provided in the online application.
  • House rent allowance received by the parent(s) of a student shall be exempted from the computation of ‘income’ if the same has been permitted to be exempted for the purpose of Income tax.
  • Income certificate is required to be taken once only i.e. at the time of admission to courses which are continuing for more than one year.
  • The family income shall be computed in the following manner:-
    • If both parents are working, their combined income from all sources counts as the total family income.
    • Only the income of parents counts towards the total family income, excluding earnings from any other family members.
    • For families with only one living parent, only that parent’s income counts towards the total family income. Income from siblings or other family members is not included.
    • In the case of an orphan, supported by a guardian, income criteria shall not apply.

For Renewal of Scholarships:-

  • The scholarship will be payable for 10 months in an academic year.
  • The award once made will continue subject to good conduct and regularity in attendance. It will be renewed for Class 10 after the student is promoted to Class 11.
