Education Deptt seeks list of Govt schools falling above radius of seven KMs by foot

Srinagar, Apr 20 (KNO): School Education Department Thursday sought a list of government schools falling above a radius of seven kilometers or more on foot.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Personal Officer (PO) at Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) had issued a communique to all Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of the region.

“In this regard, you are asked to verify the distance of such schools and furnish the same to DSEJ,” it reads.

The PO said, “If any other schools in Jammu Division apart from the list issued by DSEJ where a distance of more than 7 km is required to be covered on foot and same may also be communicated to DSEJ itself through return mail.”

The officer has informed the CEOs to treat the matter as most urgent.

In the meantime, top officials at DSEK said that the move is aimed for internal purposes.

“As of now, we are consolidating the data for internal use and we will see what will be done to those schools after the transfer drive,” the official said—(KNO)

J&K Bank digital channels record over 9.5 lakh transactions worth Rs 572 crore today

Due to overload, mPAY service was slow during the day, but overall it worked well and customers were able to use online services.

Srinagar, April 20: Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr J&K Bank’s digital and alternate channels have recorded more than 9 lakh transactions amounting to whopping Rs 572 Crore till 7 pm on Thursday.

A senior bank official told (KNS) that they feel delighted in having successfully served lakhs of esteemed customers ahead of the Eid as the bank’s digital and alternate channels have successfully processed over 9.5 million transactions today till 7 pm.

 

He said bank’s mobile application mPAY processed over 3.5 lakh successful transactions today upto 7 pm, resulting in transfer of money amounting to Rs 104 crore.

 

“ATMs also witnessed huge customer footfall since morning, dispensing Rs 350 crore in over 3.5 lakh successful transactions. Under UPI services, payments amounting to Rs 5.72 crore were made in 9.5 lakh transactions, while an amount of Rs 12 crore has been transacted in purchases through PoS and e-Commerce channels of the Bank in over 1 lakh successful transactions”.

He further said that since they were not able to come up to the expectations of a section of valuable customers on Eid-ul-Fitr due to technical faults, but J&K Bank has successfully updated its system which resulted record number of transactions and withdrawals this Eid with some rare technical issues.

Meanwhile, customers also hailed the J&K Bank authorities for providing uninterrupted service to its customers on this festive occasion.

“Although I was very apprehensive because of last Eid experience, but to my surprise mPAY worked perfectly this time. J&K Bank has walked its talk this time,” said a customer.
