NEET UG 2024 counselling is set to begin in the third week of July. It is conducted in four rounds, based on All India Rank and existing reservation policies.

The NEET UG 2024 counselling process is set to commence in the third week of July, as announced by the Centre. The process, which will unfold in four rounds, marks the final stage for admissions to medical colleges across India.

The counselling will be based on an All India Merit List prepared from the NEET UG 2024 results. This list, arranged by All India Rank, will guide the admission of candidates to undergraduate medical courses. The existing reservation policies will be applied during the admission process.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will provide the All India Rank to the candidates, while the admitting authorities will invite applications for counselling.

The admitting authorities will then create a merit list based on the All India Rank, ensuring that admissions are conducted within the respective categories.

CANCELLATION OF ADMISSIONS

The Centre has made it clear that the admissions of candidates found to have benefited from irregularities during any phase of the counselling process will be cancelled.

This measure is to ensure the integrity and fairness of the admission process.

NO MASS MALPRACTICE DETECTED

Experts from IIT Madras conducted a technical analysis of the NEET UG 2024 data and found no signs of mass malpractice or any localized advantage that could lead to abnormal scores.

This analysis supports the Centre’s stance against the need for a re-examination, which would affect nearly 24 lakh candidates based on what the Centre deems as ‘unsubstantiated suspicions.’
