J&K Services Selection Board Extends Application Deadline for Supervisor Posts

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has extended the deadline for submission of applications for the posts of Supervisor in the Social Welfare Department.

The last date for submitting applications has been extended from February 14, 2024, to March 19, 2024. The edit option for allowing changes in applications will also be activated from March 21, 2024, to March 23, 2024.

The JKSSB has received a number of requests from candidates for an extension in the deadline, stating that they were unable to submit their applications or entered incorrect information.

“The date for submission of application forms for the posts of Supervisor, Social Welfare Department, advertised vide Notification No. 02 of 2023 dated 08.12.2023, is hereby extended as under,” the JKSSB notification reads.

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has released a public notice announcing helpline numbers and email addresses for students appearing in the Annual Regular Examinations 2024.

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released a notification regarding the document verification for candidates who are being considered for the post of Veterinary Pharmacist. The document verification is scheduled to be held on [date] at [venue].

Who is eligible to attend the document verification?

GATE 2024 Results Announcement: What Candidates Need to Know

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2024, conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, took place from February 3 to 11, 2024. Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board Releases Provisional List of Drivers

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has announced the provisional selection list for various driver posts across the union territory.

The selection process was conducted for 127 posts advertised by the Board under Notification Nos. 07 of 2020 dated 31.12.2020, 05 of 2021 dated 22.09.2021, 02 of 2022 dated 09.02.2022, 04 of 2022 dated 27.07.2022 and 01 of 2023 dated 11.04.2023.

The selection was based on a written examination conducted on December 24, 2023, which was preceded by a driving test.

The JKSSB has not yet announced the date for the release of the final selection list.

Light rains lash plains, Gulmarg among higher reaches receive fresh snowfall

Srinagar, Mar 12: Light rains lashed plains while higher reaches including Gulmarg received fresh snowfall, officials said on Tuesday.

A meteorological department official told GNS that in the last 24 hours till 0830 a.m. today, Srinagar received traces of rain, Pahalgam 0.6mm, Kupwara 0.2mm, Kokernag 1.2mm while Gulmarg received 2cms of snowfall.

Regarding temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a minimum of 5.9°C against 6.3°C on the previous night.

It was above normal by 2.2°C for the summer capital of JK for this time of the year, the MeT official said.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of 5.8°C against 4.4°C on the previous night and it was 3.5°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam recorded a low of 1.7°C against 2.2°C on the previous night and it was 2.9°C above normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 4.4°C, same as on the previous night and it was 1.9°C above normal, the official said.

Kupwara town recorded a low of 4.0°C, same as on the previous night and it was 1.7°C above normal there, the official said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 1.6°C against minus 1.0°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 1.7°C for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Jammu, he said, recorded a minimum of 12.5°C and it was below normal by 1.5°C for the winter capital of J&K.

Banihal recorded a low of 6.6°C, Batote 6.4°C and Bhaderwah 6.0°C, he said.

In next 24 hours, he said, there is possibility of light rain and snow at few places.

On Wednesday, he said, there is possibility of light to moderate rain and snow at widespread places while there is possibility of light rain and snow at few places on March 14. Generally dry weather is expected from March 15-20, he added. (GNS)

Multi activity equipment for children installed in 7 new parks

Srinagar, Mar 11: In a bid to further boost tourism allure of Asia’s largest Tulip garden, the Department of Floriculture has added five more new tulip varieties this year besides expanding the existing garden area.

This was informed during a meeting chaired by Commissioner Secretary Floriculture, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, held at Civil Secretariat here.

The meeting was also attended by Director Floriculture Kashmir, District Floriculture Officers and other senior officers of the department.

While addressing the meeting, the Commissioner Secretary said that it is the endeavour of the department to make the Tulip Garden more attractive and alluring for the tourists from all over the world.

“This year we have added five new varieties bringing the total number of tulip varieties to 73. These new varieties will give an enchanting experience to the visitors making the splendid garden extremely beautiful,” he maintained.

He added that 1.7 million tulips are set to bloom this year in the upcoming season, the ground work of which has been completed. He said that the department has also added another four kanal of land for the parking lot at the tulip garden to ensure a smooth experience for the visitors.

Sheikh Fayaz said that Tulip Garden, recently included in the World Book of Records, is a pride for the Floriculture department and has greatly enhanced the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir. We are anticipating a big increase in arrival of tourists to the Tulip Garden this year as compared to the last year and preparations are in full swing in this regard.

He took note of various civil works in the garden like face lifting, toilet points, soakage pits, lightning system, illumination among other works and asked the concerned to complete the leftover works. He asked the DFOs to ensure parks are well maintained in all the districts and all the facilities for the visitors are in place. He said that all parks should have a washroom facility for ease of the visitors.

Sheikh Fayaz directed the officers to complete all the ongoing works in the shortest possible timeframe. He asked the Director Floriculture to personally monitor the execution of works to ensure their timely completion.

It was also revealed during the meeting that the Floriculture department has installed multi activity children equipment in 7 more parks bringing the total number of parks with children equipment to 14.

Director Floriculture Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Rather, said that it is a conscious endeavour of the department to ensure that children have fun time in the parks.

He also passed strict directions to the concerned officers to keep a close watch on the equipments in the parks to avoid any untoward incident. He said that any damaged equipment should be immediately replaced to ensure complete safety of the children— (KNO)
