Srinagar, Feb 07 (KNO): Over Rs 18,000 crore gross Goods and Service Tax has been collected in Jammu and Kashmir in the last four financial years, documents reveal.

Documents accessed by news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reveal that since 2020 Rs 18,590 crore has been collected as GST in Jammu and Kashmir.

Last year, the government collected Rs 5,004 crore as GST, while Rs 5246 crore GST was collected in Jammu and Kashmir in 2022. In 2021 and 2020, the government collected Rs 4,694 and 3,648 crores respectively as GST.

As per the officials, robust recovery in economic activities in Jammu and Kashmir has been the main reason for increase in GST collection.

Jammu and Kashmir registered a growth of 20 percent in the collection GST in December last year as compared December 2022. As against Rs 410 crore in December 2022, Rs 492 crore was collected as GST in December 2023.

Figures reveal that in the last four financial year, around 285 GST evasion cases were registered by Central Tax formations that included 14 during 2020-21, 89 during 2021-22, 78 during 2022-23 and 104 during 2023-24 till December 2023—(KNO)

1. From 06-02-2024, 1700 hrs. to 07-02-2024, 1700 hrs. there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of 04 HMVs and single lane traffic at Dalwas, poor surface condition of road at several places between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel.

2. Passengers/LMVs operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during day time. Please avoid journey during night hours as apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.

3. HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

4. HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.

CUET PG 2024 extended registration window closes today

Candidates who are yet to apply for the examination can submit their forms till 11:50 pm on pgcuet.samarth.ac.in.

The extended application window of the Common University Entrance Test-Postgraduate (CUET-PG 2024) will end today. Originally, the application deadline was January 24, and it was first extended to January 31 and then to February 7.

Candidates who are yet to apply for the examination can submit their forms till 11:50 pm on pgcuet.samarth.ac.in.

The examination fee can be paid till February 8, 2024. The correction window will open on February 9 and will close on February 11, 2024.

CUET PG 2024 is scheduled for March 11 to 28, and the detailed schedule will be published soon. The duration of the exam is 1.45 hours.

There will be three shifts on all exam days.

NTA will share exam city information slips of CUET PG on March 4. Candidates can download their admit cards from March 7 onwards.

The provisional answer key of CUET PG will be issued on April 4. The result date is not confirmed yet.

The exam is held for admission to postgraduate courses offered by central universities and other participating institutions.

Two Person Shot At In Srinagar, One Dead

Srinagar, February 7(GNS) Suspected militants shot dead one person and injuring other in Karfali Mohalla ShalKadal area of Srinagar district on Wednesday evening.

A top police officer told GNS that this evening militants fired upon two person from close range. One of the injured succumbed on spot while another has been in shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

As per Intial reports one has been identified as Amritpal Singh (deceased) of Amritsar and another has been identified as Rohit son of who is admitted in SMHS, both are said to be non-locals.(GNS)

Says Centre continues to follow zero tolerance policy; only 30 security forces personnel killed in 2023, 14 CT Ops took place last year, 73 terrorists killed

Srinagar, Feb 07 (KNO): The Ministry of Home Affairs Wednesday said that the security situation in J&K has significantly improved post 2019 and the Government of India continues with its policy of zero tolerance against terrorism.

In reply to a query related to the security situation in J&K, Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Nityananad Rai said that the security situation has shown a significant improvement since 2019. He stated that in 2019, the number of terrorist initiated incidents were 153 that came down to 126 in 2020, 129 in 2021 and 125 in 2022. “In 2023, only 46 such incidents were reported,” the reply reads as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He said that in 2019, 102 encounters and counter terror operations took place. “In 2020, 118 such incidents were reported followed by 100 in 2021 and 117 in 2022. In 2023, 48 such incidents were reported in J&K,” the reply reads, adding that as far the civilians killed in terrorist related incidents , 44 were killed in 2019, 38 in 2020, 41 in 2021 and 31 in 2022. “In 2023, only 14 civilians were killed in such incidents,” the reply states.

As far as the security personnel killed, 80 lost their lives in 2019, 63 in 2020, 42 in 2021, 32 in 2022 while only 30 were killed in 2023.
